Please find below a brief introduction to our Church leaders.....

MINISTER
We are currently without a minister, but are currently in the process of searching for one.  During this time we continue to operate as a leadership team with deacons responsible for specific areas supported by the elders.

TRUSTEES:
The Trustees are appointed by the church members’ meeting to help lead the church. To enable this we have adopted a Stream (ministries) approach where, as deacons they have responsibility for specific ministries.
You can contact us at: trustees@hinckleybaptist.com

Name: Martyn - Church Secretary   Name: Huw- Church Treasurer
South Africa PR-1-2   huw aug21
Having retired from helping organisations manage change, I have found myself having to manage a different type of change, this time involving nappies and two grandchildren. After a time previously on the diaconate, I felt God calling me back to serve Him here on the HBC leadership team. Outside of this I also enjoy travelling, photography and walking.     I am married with two young adult children.  I work as an independent financial adviser.  My interests include quizzing - both participating in them as well as running a pub quiz group in Coventry.  I am a lover of most sports - mainly watching but enjoy playing golf and cricket.

I am a wife and mum of 2 grown up daughters. I enjoy breaks away in the countryside, and love socialising, once I get over my initial shyness! I feel privileged to serve the Lord on our Pastoral Team, supporting others as and when they need it.   As one half of our Pastoral Team.  I support others and walk along with them when needed, with God's help.  I retired from the NHS in 2021 after 43 years.  I enjoy spending time with my grand children, gardening, holidays and eating chocolate.

Name: Sadie - Families Deacon   Name: Michael - Deacon

I enjoy time with my family and friends, baking and cooking. I love travelling abroad to see my daughter and family in Australia, plus the beaches and countryside in this country too. As Families Deacon I endeavour to encourage and support our children's work wherever possible.   I am married with two grown up children and have lived and worked in Hinckley all my life. I have many interests, including films, music, cooking, hospitality and a love of classic cars. I have been following the Lord since 1999 and have been involved at HBC even longer! Having retired in 2022, I find myself now being led to serve more within HBC and the wider community. I’m excited by this call and all God has in store for us here at HBC!
Name: Paul - Facilities Deacon

I am a father and grandparent and married to Jackie. We have been active members of HBC for over 30 years. As I recently retired from my job in the construction industry, I believe now is the time to serve God and the Church in the capacity of Facilities Deacon. My hope is that I can play my part in bringing faith to the community of Hinckley in a practical way.

Elders
The role of the elders is, to support the minister and the trustees as well as to provide an additional source of advice and mentorship to the members of HBC.

I am the mother of 4 and Grannie to 9. I first came to HBC in Jan 1992. Over the years I have undertaken a number of roles in the life of the church. From Aug 2012 to July 2023 I was privileged to live and work in Burundi, Central East Africa. Now I am settled back in Hinckley I believe God is asking me to serve the church as an Elder.   I am a reflective, thoughtful person and enjoy supporting my church and family in prayerful ways through the use of meditation, mindfulness and friendship. I enjoy going out for a curry with mates

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:45am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you can find a parking space and then find somewhere you are comfortable to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.
Refreshments are served from 10.15am
There is limited parking available on the site, plus public car parks close by on each side of Stockwell Head (near to the Concordia Theatre) which are free of charge on Sundays.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.45am with a warm welcome from one of our Members. We have a time of sung worship, usually led by our Band.  On the first Sunday of the month we share Communion together during our service. We have spoken prayers, and a reading from the bible. Sometimes people share things that have happened to them (often called a testimony or a blessing) and sometimes it could be something that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. One of our Leaders or a visiting Preacher/Minister will give a sermon/talk that is bible based, explaining how we can apply that message and teaching to our everyday lives. We usually finish with a worship song and a prayer. There is an opportunity to receive personal prayer at the end of the service, in a quiet place. Just ask one of the Welcome Team to guide you to the right person and place...........

What about my children?

S.A.L.T  - Sharing And Learning Together.
School age children go out into our children’s groups which we currently run on the 1st  Sunday of each month (from Sept-June):-
Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service. We really value worshipping God all together as a family for the first part of our service. When it’s time for the children to go out to their various groups, Leaders take them up to our Pathways centre for their activities and teaching.  Activities and teaching varies depending on their age. There is a friendly welcome, bible stories, sharing time, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play.  Children come back into the Sanctuary to re-join us for our coffee and chat time.

On the 2nd Sunday of the month we have our Parade Service where Girls Brigade and Boys Brigade children and parents join us for a family friendly fun service. We serve breakfast for our Brigade families and church family in Pathways from 10am prior to the service which starts at 10.45.

On the 3rd Sunday of the month, alongside our normal morning service, we run Messy Church in the Pathways Centre. This is "alternative" church, which we run in the afternoon from 3pm-5pm. This is open to everyone, not just children and parents/carers. See our Messy Church page for what goes on here.

Please contact families@hinckleybaptist.com if you would like more details about our Families groups.

Getting Connected

Life Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, worship God, listen to good Bible teaching and catch up over coffee/tea, it is in smaller groups that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our Life Groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week. Check out Life Groups and see if you would like to join a group? We can put you in touch with a Life Group Leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to try their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you would like to get involved in the life of the church including our community based groups based from Pathways, as a volunteer,  please speak to one of our Welcome Team or contact admin@hinckleybaptist.com or call us on 01455 890026 and someone will get back to you to chat about opportunities and current vacancies.
